Delhi: In a shocking incident that came to light on Sunday afternoon, three bodies, including those of an elderly man and a woman, were found in a parked car near West Delhi’s Peeragarhi flyover. Investigations are underway to find out whether the tragic incident is a case of homicide or triple suicide. According to reports, police received a call around 3.50 pm about three people in a car sitting unresponsive, following which they found the vehicle near the flyover.
Strong smell of a “poisonous” substance detected
Cops later forced open the car and recovered the bodies from the parked car. Meanwhile, a strong odour of a “poisonous substance” was emanating from the vehicle. The occupants were identified as 76-year-old Randhir Singh from Baprola village, 47-year-old Shiv Naresh Singh, also a resident of Baprola, and 40-year-old Laxmi Devi.
Police find bodies lying motionless in the car
Police confirmed that Randhir Singh was found lying on the driver’s seat, while the other two occupants were found in the rear seat. The car was registered under the name of one of the victims, reports added. Following the incident, crime and forensic teams arrived at the spot to examine the car and the nearby areas.
Evidence, documents collected from spot
Evidence and the car documents were recovered, helping to establish the trio’s identities. Police contacted the 76-year-old man’s family, and a relative reached the scene to identify him and Shiv Naresh. Laxmi Devi’s link to the two men, however, could not be established immediately.
Personal possessions remain intact
Surprisingly, the cash, mobile phones, and jewellery on the woman were found intact. A soft drink bottle found in the car has been sent for forensic examination, and the bodies for postmortem. The exact cause of death will come to light after the report is out.
