A woman working as a manager at a private IT firm in Udaipur, Rajasthan, was allegedly gang-raped in a moving car after colleagues offered her a ride home following a New Year party. Police said the incident took place after a celebration at a private hotel on December 20. The woman arrived at the venue around 9 pm, and the party went on until about 1:30 am. After most people left, she remained at the location and was later offered a lift.
The survivor told police that she started feeling sick late at night. Arrangements were then made to drop her home. She said the company’s female executive head offered to take her, and around 1:45 am, they left the hotel in the victim’s car. The executive head’s husband and the company CEO were also in the vehicle. According to police, the car stopped at a shop during the journey, where the accused bought smoking material and gave it to the woman. After consuming it, she allegedly lost consciousness.
Assault inside the moving car
The survivor said that when she partly regained consciousness, she found the CEO behaving inappropriately with her. She alleged that all three then sexually assaulted her. She was dropped home around 5 am. After waking up properly, she noticed injuries on her body and realised some personal items were missing. She went to the police and registered a complaint the next morning.
Three accused arrested
During the preliminary investigation, police arrested the CEO, Jayesh, the executive’s husband, Gaurav, and his wife, Shilpa. Further investigation is in progress.
Medical report and evidence under review
Udaipur SP Yogesh Goyal said the medical examination confirmed injury marks, supporting the survivor’s statement. Police are also analysing audio and video captured on the car’s dashcam, which reportedly recorded voices during the incident. The accused have been produced before a court, and legal proceedings are ongoing, police said.
