Bharat Bandh: Customers planning to visit local branches today for completing any bank-related work may face major disruptions. The All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA), and Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) have urged members to participate in the nationwide strike on February 12.
A joint forum of ten central trade unions: AIUTUC, INTUC, HMS, AICCTU, AITUC, TUCC, CITU, SEWA, UTUC, and LPF will head the protest organised to oppose the new labour codes and other policy issues. The one-day strike has left customers speculating whether banks will remain open or closed on Thursday.
Are banks closed or open today?
Public sector bank operations may come to a standstill. SBI and Bank of Baroda have already informed the stock exchanges that they will take necessary steps to ensure smooth operations. However, there could be potential delays in some services.
As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, February 12 has not been declared a public holiday. However, several banking operations are likely to be hit.
Which services may be hit?
Bank-related services that may face significant disruptions include cash deposits and withdrawals, cheque clearance services, counter services, and loan processing.
