Reports say that Jasprit Bumrah visited the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. This happened right before he joined Mukesh Ambani’s Mumbai Indians training camp for the IPL 2026 season. According to The Times of India, it is not clear if he went there because of a new injury or if it was just a regular check-up to make sure he is fit.
The Centre of Excellence is a huge 40-acre campus built to help Indian athletes train and recover from injuries. It is the main hub for Indian cricket, where men, women and junior players go to improve their skills The facility includes three top quality cricket grounds and 86 different practice pitches (both indoors and outdoors). Players use these for coaching camps, practice matches, and fitness training to stay in peak condition.
A full-time team of BCCI doctors and medical experts works at the center to take care of India’s best athletes. It was also recently shared that Akash Deep, who plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders, was there as well. He has been recovering from a “back stress injury”.
The last time Jasprit Bumrah played was in the 2026 T20 World Cup final in Ahmedabad. He was the star of the game, taking four wickets against New Zealand and winning the Player of the Match award. Surprisingly, he did not stay for the celebrations after the game, and he also missed the BCCI’s big annual awards ceremony in Delhi.
Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene had already announced that Jasprit Bumrah and the other T20 World Cup winners would get a long break to rest. However, while other stars like Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya attended the team’s “Mix” event in Mumbai, Bumrah was not there.
It might just mean that Jasprit Bumrah is spending time with his family before doing some final practice at the CoE. Mumbai Indians certainly hope this is the case because he is their most important player for IPL 2026. He doesn’t just lead the bowling team, he is the only bowler who can bowl perfectly at any time during the game. Like a “cheat code” in a video game, he can win matches all by himself, just like he did for India at the World Cup.
