Tata Punch EV has now been updated with a larger battery and a revised powertrain. With the new update, Tata plans to help the car achieve the success that its predecessor enjoyed. The Punch is now on offer with two battery packs. The entry-level variant is powered by a 30 kWh LFP battery mated to a single electric motor that generates 88 hp and 145 Nm of peak torque. The other flagship variant is the Punch EV 40, whose front-mounted electric motor delivers 129 hp while producing the same amount of torque.
The brand claims that the punchier version can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in less than 9 seconds.
The higher 40 kWh battery
The higher variant with the 40 kWh battery pack features the same LFP composition as the base variant but sports higher-density prismatic cells. The new battery design means that the Punch EV 40 variant has a claimed range of up to 468 km. The Punch EV 30’s maximum range is up to 375 km. Regardless, both variants of the updated Punch EV support DC fast charging of up to 65 kW, taking the battery from 10–80% in just about 30 minutes. The car will be available with a 3.3 kW AC charger as standard, and buyers will have the option to opt for a 7.2 kW unit as per their requirement.
Changes to the interior
Stepping inside the 2026 Tata Punch EV will be a familiar experience, as it is quite similar to that of the earlier variant. Tata has not altered the design in any major manner; instead of the older two-tone colour scheme, a generous application of gloss black trim now rests on the steering wheel and centre console.
Features offered by the Punch EV facelift
The new Punch EV comes with a wide range of modern tech features. Most prominent among them is the presence of a dual display, which comprises a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment system.
