Rs 14000000000000 lost: Sensex closes 1,836 points down, Nifty settles at 22,512; HCL Tech, Power Grid top gainers, check full list of losers today

The yield on the US 10-year bond climbed to its highest level since mid-2025, reinforcing expectations that interest rates could remain elevated for an extended period

The ongoing Israel-Iran conflict once again rattled the stock markets on Monday. Geopolitical tensions, rising crude oil prices, and a falling rupee led to the Sensex crashing 1,836.57 points to close at 72,696.39. Meanwhile, the Nifty tumbled 601.85 points to 22,512.65. This wiped out Rs 14 lakh crore of investor wealth. The decline was largely driven by a sharp increase in US bond yields. The yield on the US 10-year bond climbed to its highest level since mid-2025, reinforcing expectations that interest rates could remain elevated for an extended period. As a result, emerging markets like India became less attractive, with global investors shifting toward dollar-denominated assets and continuing their selling through FPIs. Here is the list of top gainers and top losers today.
