India won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup by delivering another dominant performance as they defeated New Zealand by 96 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Despite Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s absence – the transition phase turned out to be very smooth for the Men in Blue.
With this win, India now have three major ICC trophies – 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup, 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup and 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. Following India’s win, former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif applauded India’s sustained dominance and emphasised on their ability to consistently set huge targets which almost became impossible for the BlackCaps to chase.
Pakistan on the other side have been very less impressive and the team struggled to maintain momentum in major ICC matches. Their disappointing run continued in T20 World Cup as well where they were knocked out in Super 8 stage. Latif openly discussed the two different approaches shown by India and Pakistan in high-pressure tournaments which suggested that the two sides handled everything very differently.

“Even after losing the toss, they made 250 runs. Nobody will be able to catch them. They have not done this overnight; it is the result of their hard work over the last 10 years or so. See the last ICC events or the Asia Cup,” Rashid Latif told the reporters.
“India’s DNA is to win trophies, and our DNA is to lose even before the knockouts. Their DNA is playing the final and winning,” he added.
“Weaker boards do this. When you sign a contract, it has everything. Fines and rewards are also mentioned,” Rashid remarked.
