Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi on Tuesday after she felt unwell, according to reports. Her children, Lok Sabha MPs Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, were also present at the hospital when she was admitted.
However, Rahul Gandhi left the hospital later. The exact reason behind Sonia Gandhi’s latest hospitalisation was not immediately known.
Hospitalised after feeling unwell
According to an India Today report, the Congress leader was taken to the hospital after she complained of discomfort. Doctors are monitoring her condition, though no official statement has yet been issued about the specific medical reason behind her admission.
Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reached the hospital soon after she was admitted.
Earlier hospitalisation due to respiratory issues
This is not the first time this year that Sonia Gandhi has been admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. In January, she was hospitalised due to respiratory discomfort.
At the time, doctors said her bronchial asthma had mildly worsened because of Delhi’s winter weather and high levels of air pollution. After receiving treatment, she was later discharged.
Sonia Gandhi, who turned 79 in December, currently serves as a Rajya Sabha MP from Rajasthan. Before moving to the Upper House, she served five terms as a member of the Lok Sabha.
