A 30-year-old Indian-origin woman was found dead inside a Toronto residence last week, triggering a homicide investigation by Canadian authorities. Police have identified her intimate partner as the main suspect and have launched a nationwide search.
Who was Himanshi Khurana?
The victim, Himanshi Khurana, was reported missing on the night of December 19 in the area of Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West. Toronto Police said they received the missing person call at around 10.41 pm and immediately began an investigation.
On the morning of December 20, at approximately 6.30 am, officers discovered Khurana’s body inside a residence. Police later confirmed that her death was a homicide, after which the Homicide Unit took over the case.
Who is Abdul Ghafoori?
Toronto Police have named Abdul Ghafoori, 32, also a resident of Toronto, as the prime suspect in the case. Authorities have issued a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest on charges of first-degree murder.

Investigators stated that Himanshi Khurana and Abdul Ghafoori knew each other and were in a relationship. Police described their connection as an ‘intimate partner relationship,’ suggesting the crime was not random.

Police have released an image of Abdul Ghafoori and are urging the public to assist in locating him. Authorities have asked anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact Toronto Police immediately.
Abdul Ghafoori is wanted for first-degree murder, one of the most serious criminal charges in Canada. If found guilty, the offence carries the possibility of life imprisonment without parole.
