Ganga Expressway update: Uttar Pradesh commuters will soon receive good news as India's longest mega expressway, connecting Meerut to Prayagraj, is set to become operational soon. As per the latest update, the 595-km-long corridor's construction is almost complete, and inauguration preparations are underway, the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) said.

Once open to the public, the journey, which currently takes 12 to 13 hours to complete, will be reduced to just 6 to 7 hours. The stretch not only aims to boost the state’s connectivity but also to generate job opportunities in industrial, agricultural, and other sectors. The Greenfield Expressway is likely to formally open on April 1, 2026.

With the launch of the Ganga Expressway, Unnao is poised to witness a significant industrial development. According to a report by Zee News, Canpack (Poland) and an aquaculture firm from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are planning to invest in the region. Moreover, Unnao is famous for its substantial mango production, and the district also boasts a thriving trade in Zari work.

A key industrial zone is reportedly being developed at Sarai Katiyan, situated next to the Ganga Expressway in Unnao, reports added. News24, however, does not claim nor confirm the accuracy of the details provided herein.

The Ganga expressway will pass through 12 districts: Amroha, Sambhal, Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj, Hardoi, Unnao, and Rae Bareli. Built at a cost of over Rs. 36,200 crore, the six-lane (expandable up to 8 lanes) stretch starts from Bijoli village in Meerut district and ends at Judapur Dandu village in Prayagraj district in Uttar Pradesh.
