Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max may launch alongside the new iPhone fold, a fresh report suggests. As per the latest supply-chain and analyst reports, Apple is preparing for a much bigger foldable push than previously expected, with Samsung Display reportedly lined up to supply panels at a massive scale as the company expects to sell over 20000000 iPhone foldables starting late 2026.
The most certain detail so far is the timing. Several sources tracking Apple’s plans suggest the foldable will debut in September 2026, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. This would finally see Apple join the market after years of watching rivals like Samsung, Huawei and Motorola from the sidelines.
When it comes to production, Apple is clearly thinking big. While reports vary slightly, one suggests the company has ordered 22 million OLED panels from Samsung Display. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes the order could be between 15 and 20 million units, potentially covering the first few years of sales. Either way, it shows Apple expects the new device to be a major hit.
iPhone foldable price
As you might expect, it won’t be cheap. The foldable is set to be Apple’s most expensive phone yet, with rumours suggesting a starting price of $1,999 for the 256GB model. Prices could climb as high as $2,399 for the 1TB version, putting it right up against other premium foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold.
In terms of design, it’s expected to open like a book rather than a flip-phone. It will likely feature a 7-inch inner screen with a nearly invisible crease. With Samsung reportedly starting mass production of the screens in May 2026, it looks like the project is finally moving into a more serious phase.
There are also whispers about a second, flip-style model, but that seems to be a long way off. For now, the focus is on the book-style foldable, and Apple seems keen to pair its launch with the iPhone 18 Pro range to make as much of an impact as possible.
