Shocking videos from Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central jail have recently been doing the rounds on the internet. The viral clips purportedly showed notorious inmates watching television and even using mobile phones inside the facility, sparking major concerns of security lapses and preferential treatment
The high-security prison authorities on Saturday launched an investigation after the clips surfaced. Among the mobile phone users inside the prison are Telugu actor Tarun (co-accused involved in a gold smuggling case along with actress Ranya Rao), Zuhaib Hameed Shakeel Manna (a notorious recruiter for ISIS), and Umesh Reddy ( a serial rape-convict and killer), the one who was watching TV inside his cell. News24, however, could not independently verify the authenticity of the video.

Karnataka Government Reacts
The undated videos have led to an uproar regarding the VIP treatment given to the inmates inside the high-security Bengal Central Jail. Reacting to the reports, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara told the media, “I won’t tolerate it.” Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has vowed strict action against those found guilty after convening a high-level meeting to discuss the matter. Efforts to verify the authenticity of the video are also underway.
Serial Rape-Murder Convict Sips Tea, Scrolls Phone Behind Bars
The minute-long video features Manna, a Bengaluru resident, who was spotted sipping tea while scrolling on a mobile phone. The man in question was booked by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for his alleged links to the banned terror group ISIS.
This is, however, not the first time that Parappana Agrahara Central Jail inmates have faced scrutiny. Earlier in October, a video purportedly showing Srinivas, aka Gubbachi Seena, a notorious rowdy-sheeter, celebrating his birthday inside the cell went viral.
